KEEP THE MAIN THING THE MAIN THING

Hi,

Thanks for coming back! I sincerely hope you’re blessed each time you visit this page? If you are, I’d be honored to hear from you.

Last week I wrote on how to go about setting great goals and I hope you have set your goals? In Coaching, I use a chart called ‘the Life wheel’ consisting of eight different life areas – Emotional, Health, Partner, Vocation, Money, Personal Development, Family/Social and Spiritual to assist the client identify where the individual is (in their own mind) in life on all of the life areas. Very rarely will you find anyone with a perfectly balanced wheel. This exercise helps people see and decide which area of their life is causing the imbalance in their life and they are able to decide whether or not they want to do something about it.

This week, my heart’s cry to everyone is – no matter what life areas we choose to work on this year, let’s remember to KEEP THE MAIN THING THE MAIN THING.

WHAT IS THE MAIN THING?
The main thing is that we are all here for a purpose and only for a season of life. We do not own ourselves; we belong to God. Life is not really about us, it is about the purpose for which we’ve been sent to be participants in life.

The main thing is that we as Christians are ALIENS in this world (1Peter 2:11), as aliens we are called to be transformed not to be conformed to the ways of this world. We are in the world but not of it. To each of us a season was appointed to accomplish our assignment, enough time to get the job done, after which our rewards awaits us.

The main thing is as aliens we ought not to go about life focusing on the ‘seen’, for all that is seen is temporary – be they mansions, accolades, trials or ‘peoples opinions’; we ought to go through life focusing on the unseen (2Corinthians 4:18) – our Invisible and Invincible God, who is eternal and forever praised!

The main thing is there is a heaven to gain and a hell to shun.

The main thing is to be about our heavenly Father’s business, hoping to hear Him say to us on that day – “Well done! Good and Faithful servant!

The main thing is by the end of today, we will be 24 hours closer to the return of our Lord than we were yesterday but until He calls for us, we ought to remain the light of the world and the salt of the earth.

I encourage you to aim for the stars in pursuit of the dreams that God has placed in your heart, at worst you may land in the moon, but in the midst of your pursuits, remember to KEEP THE MAIN THING THE MAIN THING, for it’s only what the Sovereign Lord thinks of you that would count and His opinion does count for all eternity!

Keep your light shinning!
With Love,
Angela

GOALS! GOALS!GOALS!

Hi!

The first month of the New Year is almost on its way out! How time flies! How has it been for you? Almost everyone I’ve talked with has high hopes for this year. People want success! Unfortunately, for some people, their desire for success is just wishful thinking. It’s like faith without works, which equals no result. The first step to success in life is great goal setting! A goal defines where you want to go and helps you maintain your focus as you navigate towards your dream. Some people set goals and never achieve it because their goals lack the essential ingredients for achievable goals. There are basic ingredients for anything you seek to create in life, to leave out the basics is to set yourself up for failure. Can you bake a cake without flour?

I know you want to go somewhere with your life, otherwise you will not be reading my blog. Do you know where you want to go? If money was not an issue, if peer group pressure does not exist, if you had no one on earth to please but yourself, where will you be and what will you be doing? The answer to the above question could help point you towards where you TRULY want to go with your life and who you really want to be. The earlier you start pursuing your dreams, the better, because you were not created to live other peoples dream.

When God designed you, He put a dream in your heart, to guide you to your true purpose in life. That dream has been there since you were a child, stop looking at the outside world to find this dream, look inwards. I know for some people, a lot has happened since their childhood and as a result, their dream as been buried so deep, they are almost totally out of touch with it. If this is you, you can remedy the situation by asking the Holy Spirit to shine His light into your heart, He can unearth your dream. Believe me; God wants you to dream again!

Perhaps your dream is alive and well, but you never seem to follow through with your goals, then you may need to review the ingredients for setting your goals. Part of what I do as a Life Coach is help people set great goals. I use a process call SMERTIE to accomplish this. SMERTIE is an acronym that stands for Specific, Measurable, Evidential, Responsible, Timed, Inspirational, and Emotional.

You want to set a great goal? Make sure you are as specific as can be, concerning what you want. How much do you want? What will be the evidence that you are on track? Are you fully responsible for your actions? Within what time frame do you want to achieve your goal? Is your goal inspirational to you? How would accomplishing your goal make you feel?

Just as you need goals to win a soccer match, you surely need goals to win in life. If you haven’t set your goals for this year, today is a good time to do it! Incorporating the ingredients I listed above, will be a good starting point. It sure takes more than setting great goals to succeed in life. You may want to consider hiring a Life Coach to come alongside you. If you want more details about our life coaching program, send us an email and we’d take it up from there.

At Rhema Life Coaching, we are committed to your success!

God believes in you and so do I!

Live your dreams!

THE BEST IS ON ITS WAY!

It is my personal tradition that from the beginning of October every year, I focus on seeking the face of God concerning the oncoming year. I do this because, it is of utmost importance to me, that I know what is on God’s heart for me and those connected to me, this helps shape my expectation for the year. As you may already know, your expectations have everything to do with your realizations in life. Whether they are high or low, good or bad, they shape your reality. For me, it is of absolute necessity that my expectations are in alignment with God’s plans for my life, because I want to finish strong.

Another reason I do this is because though the bible says there is nothing new under the sun (Ecclesiastes 1:9), God is way above the sun, His love is new every morning (Lamentations 3:22-23)) and every day is a new day, so we are indeed in a New Year! Since this year has never been before, I’m curious about what is in it for me, and since our destinies are in God’s hands, He is the only one who can paint a true picture of what lies ahead for us. God promises that if we seek Him with all our heart we will find Him (Jeremiah 29:13), true to His word, there is not a single year that I sought Him of what is to come and found no answers.

I must let you know that God does not give me all the details at once, as a matter of fact, what He does is to give me the THEME, for the oncoming year e.g. in 2006, His word to me was ‘I will set a table before you, in the presence of your enemies”, 2007 was ‘a year of rest’. Want to know what 2008 is? It is ‘a year of new beginnings and abundance of glad tidings’. Have you sought God’s face on what this year holds for you? If yes, have you adjusted your mental picture to create your actual future?

If you have not heard from God yet concerning this New Year, it is not too late to get on it. Start today to seek His face. If you need some guidance on how to do this send me an email, and I will give you some tips.

We live in a fallen world, and there is an enemy out there, Satan, whose agenda for you, all year round, is to steal, kill and destroy. He will seek every opportunity to ‘sow weeds in your garden’ in an attempt to hinder the plan of God for your life. You can make sure the ‘soil’ of your heart is not weed friendly. Do a self search and get rid of every junk you find. Whatever is not unto godliness should be trashed. No one goes through life without a yoke or burden, but it’s up to you whose yoke and burden you pick up. Jesus said His yoke is easy and His burden is light (Matthew 11:30), so save yourself the stress; dump every contrary yoke and burden! Grab Jesus’ offer!

I can guarantee you will ‘blow it’ at some point this year, maybe even a couple of times within the year. Don’t be shocked; mistakes are reminders that you’re still being perfected. This means you’re going to be needing forgiveness at some point, so make obtaining one easy for yourself (Matthew 6:14-15). Think of all who have hurt you in one way or the other, call them by name, and pronounce forgiveness over them. Can I challenge you to take it a step further? Next time you’re on a one on one with God, mention those names before God, and ask Him to also forgive them.

Unforgiveness will rob you of peace in your soul, blessings in your life and health in your body. It is the most effective ingredient that the enemy wants in the soil of your soul to help fertilizer his weeds. It’s not worth giving Satan such power over your life, let it go.
Jesus did not only forgive those who crucified Him, He also asked the Father to forgive them. Stephen did not only forgive those who stoned him to death, he also asked the Father to forgive them (Acts 7:60). That extra step is what separates the divine nature from the human nature. When you choose the divine nature, you raise your standards. When you raise your standards this way, your security and stability is reinforced. It makes it harder for the thief (Satan) to break in.

2008 is going to be an exciting year, if you stay focused on the picture God gave you, get rid of the clutter in your life, release your captives and choose the divine nature, you can be sure, you will be one of those who will finish strong.

God believes in you, and so do I. Stay focused, the best is on its way!

With Love,
Angela
