IN PURSUIT OF GOD'S WILL

I’m excited you came back! Today, I’d like to share the Rhema word I received from the Lord during my bible study. I’m currently in the book of Hebrews and read chapter eleven. The first part that ‘leaped out’ of the page for me was verses 8-10:
By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going. By faith he made his home in the Promised Land like a stranger in a foreign country; he lived in tents, as did Isaac and Jacob, who were heirs with him of the same promise. For he was looking forward to the city with foundations, whose architect and builder is God (Hebrews 11:8-10) NIV
A lot of us have received dreams and visions and prophetic words concerning our destinies, the question is - what are you willing to give up in order to, obtain what God promised you? How important is God’s revealed will for your life?
For Abraham, God’s promise to him was so important, he was willing to leave the comfort of his native land to a land he had never been. If you’ve ever had to apply for a visa to travel out your country and go through the immigration authorities of another country especially if the country you are emigrating to do not have good relations with your native country, then you can understand the great courage Abraham must have muzzled up to pursue God’s will for his life. In pursuit of God’s will, Abraham was faced with famine, threat to his life, abduction of his wife and rejection by the natives of the countries he passed through. What price are you willing to pay in pursuit of the will of God for your life?
In our text, we see Abraham also gave up the comfort of his house in his native land to live in tents, which can be likened to leaving your house to live in a fifth – wheel. What luxury are you willing to give up to, obtain God’s promises to you?
God noticed all that Abraham was willing to face and all he was willing to give up in pursuit of His will and reckoned Abraham’s courage to be faith and credited it to him as righteousness.
WORD OF CAUTION
If they had been thinking of the country they had left, they would have had opportunity to return. Instead, they were longing for a better country--a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them (Hebrews 11:15-16) NIV
God heard the cry of the Israelites and sent Moses to deliver them from their oppressors, with a promise to bring them into the Promised Land, flowing with milk and honey. If you are familiar with this story, you’d remember that only two of the adults who came out of Egypt obtained the promise. Why? The others disqualified themselves. You may qualify for a promise, but you must stay qualified to obtain it. On your journey to a fulfilled destiny, you will be faced with obstacles, and these obstacles are on assignment to make you return to the past that God asked you to leave behind. The guaranteed way to not fall prey of this trap according to the text above is to resolutely leave the past in the past and focus on the future. To focus on the future is to focus on the promise and a focus on the promise is an expression of faith in the one who promised. Faith qualifies you to obtain what was promised.
Success leaves clues; if you do what others did you will get the results they got.
Pay the price you have to pay, take the step you have to take, nothing endured or sacrificed for the sake of the kingdom goes unnoticed or unrewarded by God, plus whatever He promised you will come to pass. He is not a man to lie or the son of man to change His mind. Again it is impossible for His word to return to Him without accomplishing the purpose for which it was sent out. Be strong and of good courage, hold on to your expectation, that dream, vision or prophetic word will still come to pass.
So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised. For in just a very little while, "He who is coming will come and will not delay. But my righteous one will live by faith. And if he shrinks back, I will not be pleased with him." But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who believe and are saved (Hebrews 10:35-39) NIV
